SOYBEAN MEAL
Soybean Meal is the most used plant protein in Nigeria because of its availability in almost all part of the country, it’s widely accepted by most livestock’sand soybean meal is very rich in protein.  It represents two-thirds of the total world output of protein feedstuffs, including all other major oil meals and fish meal. Soybean meal gives the standard of plant protein inclusion in any feed production which other protein sources are compared with. In most production other plant protein are to replace some quantity of soybean not to replace it completely.
Soybean meal is the by-product of the extraction of soybean oil. Several processes exist, resulting in different products. Soybean meal is usually classified for marketing by its crude protein content. 


                                             NUTRITIONAL VALUE  
There are two main categories of soybean meal, the “high-protein” soybean meal with 49-56% protein and 3% crude fiber, obtained from dehulled seeds, and the “conventional" soybean meal, with 43-46% protein, that contain the hulls. In solvent-extracted soybean meals, the oil content is typically lower than 2% while it exceeds 3% in mechanically-extracted meals.
Generally the crude fiber ranges from 2.3%-10.1% depending on the type of process, high protein is from 2.3%-7.8% and low protein is from 3.5% to 10.1% which they are determined by average dry state of the soybean meal.

Recommendation is to be very careful with cost of production as there are other protein sources that substitute some quantity of soybean meal in any production such as fish meal, blood meal, GNC, cottonseed meal and others
